The Sussex Pond Survey

To the support the Ponds Habitat Action Plan (HAP), we have embarked on a programme of baseline surveys of Sussex countryside ponds.

Trained volunteers are carrying surveys of pond amphibians, plants and invertebrates. We support our volunteers with maps, species data, and expert advice and assistance. The results are enabling us to identify Priority Ponds under the Ponds HAP, and to advise pond owners on good management practice. We are also identifying suitable sites for pond creation under the Million Ponds Project.

Pond Survey training courses are held in April, May, and June each year.
